Tanita BF-350 |
 |
| |
Displaying weight, body fat percentage and body mass index (BMI), the Tanita BF-350 is fully integrated with the TriFIT system and is a non-invasive way to measure body fat, which means it requires no touching of the student. It uses bioimpedance to calculate body fat and lean mass. The Tanita measures body fat by sending a small electrical signal through one foot to the other foot. This measures the impedance, otherwise known as electrical resistance. Water is a good conductor of electrical current. As fat contains less water than muscle, the higher the resistance, the more fat tissue. By knowing the amount of impedance along with height, weight, gender and activity level, the percent fat is calculated.
The Tanita BF-350's accuracy is +/- 3% compared with DEXA for ages 5-75. The Tanita BF-350 has a capacity of 440lbs and weighs 16.5 lbs.
